Colonoscopy and Crohn's Disease

Colonoscopy is the key method of diagnosing Crohn's disease. It is also used to screen and remove precancerous and cancerous growths in the colon or rectum. This method involves the insertion of a narrow tube into the lower bowel through the anal canal. The tube contains a small camera with its own light source that allows the specialist to look at the lining of your colon. This method is much better than using an X ray in accessing the degree of inflammation in your colon. It does a more thorough examination leading up to the small intestines.
